Good paintwork starts with preparation, not the paint gun. Dirt, oil, loose rust, old flaking paint and poor repairs must be dealt with before primer and topcoat are applied. A carefully prepared machine will look better and the finish will last much longer.

Safety first

Wear suitable eye, hand, respiratory and hearing protection when using grinders, wire wheels, blasting equipment, solvents and paints. Old coatings may contain hazardous materials. Work in good ventilation and follow the product safety instructions.

1. Decide How Far to Strip the Machine

Not every restoration needs a bare-chassis strip.
